About Excalibur
Excalibur is a professional writing application designed for authors, novelists, and creative writers.
It combines the power of structured plot planning with flexible prose writing, helping you organize
your story beats while maintaining the freedom to develop your narrative naturally.
Getting Started
Plot Points: Click "Add Plot Point" to create story beats. Use the >
symbol to expand and write detailed prose. Each plot point represents a scene or story beat in your narrative.
Chapters: Use the numbered circles to switch between chapters. Right-click for options like
exporting individual chapters or deleting chapters.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Ctrl+Z - Undo last action
- Ctrl+Y - Redo last action
- Ctrl+B - Bold text
- Ctrl+I - Insert note from notes library
- Ctrl+S - Quick save (saves to last location)
Text Commands
While writing in expanded plot point text areas, you can use this text command:
- insertnote - Open notes window for inserting notes
Tip: Type "insertnote" at the end of your text in any expanded plot point, and it will automatically open the notes window for easy note insertion!

• Save regularly with Ctrl+S to avoid losing your work
